Livin' the Dream

Another day another photo shoot…

After 8 hours of death sleep, I woke to birds chirping and a mountain of downhill trails calling.  A lovely Euro breakfast (rock hard roll, coffee – thank god, and jam) fueled me for a day that shaped up to be very eventful!  Fraser and I spent the morning riding the trails to be used for the race on Sunday, then met the SuperEnduro crew for lunch atop the mountain.  Fraser and I were introduced around to the various event promotors and media… “Fraser is a canadian downhiller and professional photographer, and Liana is…, wait (turns to me), what exactly is your position?”  Shit.  They’re on to me.  Thank god for padding my resume!

The lunch conversation shifted to the afternoon’s plans, which involved a photo shoot for the resort and some local magazines.  Corsair bikes is the title bike sponsor for the resort and I casually asked if there were any bikes available for me to ride (cuz I wanted my picture taken, of course).  The European distributor for Corsair, Enrico, seemed pleased with the idea, thus resulting in me riding a flashy little orange Corsair for the afternoon.  Photo shoots are tough business though, consisting of a short run for the camera, and then a long walk back up the hill to do it again.  However, it’s still exciting and a terrific opportunity.

Riding bikes from 10 – 5 is a good life, a tired, contented state of being.  I’m sitting in the lounge, drinking a latte (the bartender asked, upon my walking into the bar, if I wanted a glass of wine… guess he remembers me from last night) and watching the storm clouds drift into the valley with relief.   We’ve been trying to have a sunset photo shoot at the top of the mountain, but after such a busy day, getting back on our bikes is less and less appealing.  Tomorrow will be much of the same – pre-riding for the race, possibly more photos, and definitely more pasta!  Although not a huge pasta fan to begin with, I may never be able to eat it again!  There’s just too much pasta here…
